Alexandra Mendes

Alexandra Mendes is well known by the constituents of Brossard-La Prairie, whom she has served for 20 years. She is currently a teacher at the Brossard Portuguese school and is president of the federal liberal riding association for Brossard-La Prairie.
From 2001 to 2006, Ms. Mendes has been an associate in the riding office of former federal cabinet minister and Member of Parliament, the Honourable Jacques Saada. From managing constituent relations to organizing events in the riding, and to conscientiously handling the minister’s files, Ms. Mendes has always had the interests of her fellow constituents at heart.
A native of Portugal and a master of French, English, Portuguese and Spanish, Ms. Mendes is down-to-earth and a woman of action. She is particularly interested in issues relating to international relations and immigration and citizenship, which she intends to defend and promote on the federal level.
A student of non-governmental organizations management at l’Université de Sherbrooke, Ms. Mendes is actively involved in numerous social causes, particularly organizations that cater to new Canadians. She is a member of the board of directors for the Rive-Sud Portuguese Association. Over the years, she was a founding member of the consultation committee for Brossard cultural relations, a member of the Brossard multicultural committee, a member of the la Table des partenaires de la Montérégie (under the direction of the ministry of Citizenship and Immigration), a member of the board of directors for CLSC Samuel de Champlain and a member of the welcoming committee for Kosovar refugees.
