Back from the Algarve

It seems to me that winter will end soon, very soon, in the Algarve! I don't know if this is an almond tree. But I know that almond trees come into blossom when the winter goes and spring comes...
I didn't know the legend of these trees either. But now I know and I can tell it to you:
Once upon a time there was a young prince who lived in the Al-Gharb. One day he fell in love with Gilda and married her. She was from nothern Europe and she remained sad all the time during the wedding. And she remained very sad after the marriage. Some thought that Gilda could be very sick, till the day she saw the landscape covered with a kind of snow made of flowers. Then she smiled and the prince understood that she had been homesick.
From that moment on, Gilda knew that she could see the "snow" every year, every February.

We are not waving goodbye!

We are only telling we still need you.
Friends never go away. They stay. To lend a hand. You know that!
So, take a little time, enjoy your freedom but don't stay away too long.
See you soon, Teacher Luizi!

My patron saint is a-fighting with a ghost
He's always off somewhere when I need him most.
The Spanish moon is rising on the hill
But my heart is a-tellin' me I love ya still.

I come back to the town from the flaming moon
I see you in the streets, I begin to swoon.
I love to see you dress before the mirror
Won't you let me in your room one time 'fore I finally disappear?

Everybody's wearing a disguise
To hide what they've got left behind their eyes.
But me, I can't cover what I am
Wherever the children go I'll follow them.

I march in the parade of liberty
But as long as I love you I'm not free.
How long must I suffer such abuse
Won't you let me see you smile one time before I turn you loose?

I've given up the game, I've got to leave,
The pot of gold is only make-believe.
The treasure can't be found by men who search
Whose gods are dead and whose queens are in the church.

We sat in an empty theater and we kissed,
I asked ya please to cross me off-a your list.
My head tells me it's time to make a change
But my heart is telling me I love ya but you're strange.

One more time at midnight, near the wall
Take off your heavy make-up and your shawl.
Won't you descend from the throne, from where you sit?
Let me feel your love one more time before I abandon it.

Elvis Presley

Elvis Aaron Presley(January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977; middle name sometimes written Aron)was an American singer, actor and musician. A cultural icon, he is commonly known simply as "Elvis", and is also sometimes referred to as "The King of Rock 'n' Roll"- or "The King".
In 1954, Presley began his career as one of the first performers of rockabilly, an uptempo fusion of country and rhythm and blues with a strong back beat. His novel versions of existing songs, mixing "black" and "white" sounds, made him popular—and controversial—as did his uninhibited stage and television performances. Presley had a versatile voice and had unusually wide success encompassing other genres, including gospel, blues, ballads and pop.

Another Year

I’m wishing you another year
Of laughter, joy and fun,
Surprises, love and happiness,
And when your birthday’s done,

I hope you feel deep in your heart,
As your birthdays come and go,
How very much you mean to me,
More than you can know.

"Looking towards the World Day of Peace, let me state the conviction which I very much want to share with you: when the promotion of the dignity of the person is the guiding principle, and when the search for the common good is the overriding commitment, then solid and lasting foundations for building peace are laid. But when human rights are ignored or scorned, and when the pursuit of individual interests unjustly prevails over the common good, then the seeds of instability, rebellion and violence are inevitably sown"
