Carnation Revolution!
Freedom Day on April 25 is a national holiday in Portugal, with official and some popular commemorations.
Carnation Revolution happened on this same day, in 1974.
It's named Carnation Revolution after the red flower that appears in a very special photo of that day.
Here is the photo:
It shows that this revolution was made of hope and freedom!

Earth Day
"When I first conceived of Earth Day, a global holiday to celebrate the wonder of life on our planet, I thought long and hard about the day on which it should fall. It must be meaningful. One that might be accepted universally for all of humankind."

Classroom poetry
Hello!
How are you?
Are you an elephant from the Zoo?
Are you Mr Magoo?
You are not cool
and I don't like school!
I prefer chocolate cake
or walking by the lake.
One, two, three, four,
Open or I kick the door.
Five, six, seven, eight,
I do love after-eight.
Up and down, left and right,
let's stop the fight
black, brown, green and grey
go and catch the bright sun ray!

Going to the Zoo
At the Zoo
I see elephants with heavy legs,
Eating bacon and eggs
I see giraffes with very long necks
Playing with the horses around a deck.
I see zebras wearing black and white,
Running freely under the sunlight.
I see monkeys, making funny tricks
Eating bananas, and playing with sticks.
I see the seals swimming in the pool
And sitting with grace on a wood stool.
I see children holding colorful balloons,
Next to a cage where I can see raccoons!
I see people walking around,
Listening to the foxes making their
Wow, wow sound.
The Lisbon Zoo is not only a traditional zoological space, it is an important and attractive park where education and amusement are encouraged. Therefore, our park offers a whole set of attractions where our visitors can have a lot of funny and relaxing moments, but, above all, they leave with the sense of a day well spent.

Rainy Day
It's raining hard,
And people say,
"It's raining cats
And dogs today."
It's raining cats.
"Meow, meow."
It's raining puppy dogs.
"Bow-wow."
Is it raining cats and dogs? Find out the reason for this. Look here!

The fourth of April, 1968
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today. This dream belongs to Martin Luther King. It's the dream of living in the same world, breathing the same air, sailing the same seas, getting the same opportunities, eating the same food, sleeping in the same comfortable beds in the same cosy homes. It's a question of rights. It's a question of human rights!
Martin Luther King was murdered forty years ago!

Today is Vitamin C Day. It celebrates the discovery of Vitamin C, in 1932.Good Sources of Vitamin C
The best sources of vitamin C are fruits and vegetables. Citrus fruits are most famous for their vitamin C content, but vitamin C can also be found in vegetables such as red peppers and cauliflower.
The way the food is cooked is also important.
To preserve the vitamin C, refrain from cooking vegetables for too long or at too high a temperature, and retain the water into which the vitamin C seeps.
Raw vegetables, when possible, are best.
